  • My body froze at the sight of the enormous bulging Eye suspended in the breezy air and early morning light. Seemingly, it was staring at something I could not see from the windows of the third-floor apartment in a semi-rural community.

While ending a deep meditation session, I asked God about extraterrestrials and requested a sign in the sky. I then invited any benevolent aliens knowing my thoughts to reveal themselves. At that moment, a telepathic voice directed me to the picture windows, promising the requested sign. Amongst the clouds swiftly passing by in the wind, only the eye "cloud" was stationary but quickly dissipating in the wind, which Figure 1 shows.

That realization jolted me out of a trance-like gaze, and I quickly grabbed the mini camcorder and began filming while positioning the camera. After a few seconds of recording, I felt an intense telepathic impression to turn the camera off, put it down, and watch. Without any thought or emotion, my body complied mechanically. Then, the Eye transformed into an animated spinning spiral, tightening in one direction before reversing into the opposite direction. It paused and then silently exploded. Large pieces quickly dissolved into the early morning sunlight, leaving only its message for me to ponder. Throughout this encounter with an otherworldly entity, there was no fear or anxiety, just awe and humility.

Eventually, I learned that a Contactee might receive a personalized sign as an affirmation. The prominent feature in my last series of paintings was huge human eyes as a metaphor for the Omnipresence of the Creator in all of life's vicissitudes (see Appendix A1).

Issues with semantics and the desire for clarity prompted numerous word studies and topical investigations, including the various forms of vision and their metaphysical counterparts. The third eye conceptualization in ancient religious culture has become the one-eye icon of modern pop culture, long appropriated by the occult elite, the secret societies, and the entertainment industry as their All-Seeing Eye. For some, the symbolic Third Eye is more than a metaphysical symbol; it has become another anatomical eye. Others identify the pineal gland as the Third Eye, assuming it to be the agent of causation for extrasensory perception and the location of the eternal soul.

The writings of prominent spiritual teachers such as Deepak Chopra, noted scholar Paul Wallis, and metaphysician extraordinaire Paul Leon Masters assisted in resolving my theoretical inquiries. Additionally, the documented commentary by the Service-To-Other Zeta Reticuli was insightful, providing an extraterrestrial perspective.

Since ancient times, the elusive ability of the human mind to process invisible realities from deep within the subconscious has been conceptualized as the Third Eye. In modern times, this metaphorical symbol has been called the eye of the mind, the seat of the soul, the mystical center of the human body, and speculated to be the pineal gland. The Third Eye is superior to the visual perception system of the human body's first and second anatomical eyes. However, unlike the physical eyes, the metaphysical Third Eye cannot be affected by physical limitations and deterioration.

Through comparative analysis of past and current scientific research into the physiological, psychological, psychical, mystical, and metaphysical properties of perception, this thesis offers a neo-conceptualization of the third-eye paradigm. Specific insights from today's most reliable extraterrestrial Presence provide a nexus for this research, shifting the focus from enhanced sight to Divine Light. The mental optics of insight, hindsight, foresight, and psychic perceptions are undoubtedly beneficial during life's vicissitudes. However, the optimal mystical experience is being the Living Light, the transcendent Omni-luminescence in everyday life.

Simply with a genuine desire and focused intention, beyond the limitations of language and numerical classifications, one's earthly experience simultaneously becomes both normal and paranormal, natural and supernatural, sensory and extrasensory, terrestrial, extraterrestrial, and celestial, without any ambiguous third-eye manipulations.

We begin this exploration with a brief look at the literal model for the figurative third eye symbol, the two natural eyes of the body. After examining the second-sighted Third Eye, the focus shifts to Light, the most critical element of vision and perception, whether natural or supernatural.

The primary hypothesis of this thesis extends the idea of Consciousness to embrace humanity's entire polysensory endowment of metaphysical perception in the Light. The discovery of new knowledge will lead to new conceptualizations and visualizations.

  • Cyril Nyankerh informs that over 71 percent of the Earth's population received the experimental "vaccines" against the controversial COVID-19 virus. Optometry researchers conducted a study accessing the nationwide database (VAERS) between December 2020 and December 2021. Although the full extent of adverse effects on those inoculated is undocumented, their findings indicate that all versions of the experimental vaccines are associated with rare ocular complications (Ocular Complications After COVID-19 Vaccination, Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, 1-2).

Paula Finden of Stanford University wrote about the intense academic debates and intellectual conflicts two and a half millennia ago when brilliant philosophers and scientists began investigating how the human eye sees. Eventually, the arguments about eyesight crystallized into two compelling fundamental theories. One platform believed in an Active Eye, from which powerful light beams emanated toward observed objects. The other platform embraced the Intromission theory, in which powerful Light rays originated from or reflected off the objects observed. Finden notes that Alhazen was the author of an 11th-century publication that marked a decisive moment in the great debates. Consequently, the fact that powerful light can harm the eyes and that seeing occurs because of reflected light from objects became the vision standard in the modern era ("A History of the Eye" n.p.).

Health organization executive Sayer Ji points out that the precarious anatomical location of the light-sensitive pineal gland subjects its neural tissue to calcification. Consequently, the gland's nonvisual photoreceptor cells, which synchronize the Presence of Light with awake and sleep patterns, are susceptible to becoming solidified. The culprit is Fluoride, or fluoxetine, a.k.a. the "ubiquitous toxicant," a substance notoriously associated with at least 60 afflictions and adversities. He reveals that medical literature attributes at least ten diseases to pineal gland calcification, including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. ("Fluoride Turns the Pineal Gland to Stone, Research Suggests" n.p.).

Sayer Ji also reports on the profound discovery made in January 2011, confirming that the eyes spontaneously transmit invisible ultraweak biophoton light. He explains the significance of research studies. He writes, "The light that emanates through the 'window of the soul,' the human Eye, is not 'imagined,' but real, and these biophotons contain energy and information..." The findings expand the knowledge of how humans see and invoke new possibilities, including what further information about humanity this transformative Light can reveal ("Confirmed: The Eye Emits Actual Light," n.p.).

In another research project, of which Sayer Ji reports, findings indicate that the entire human body emits biophoton light, suggesting that humans are already light beings. Human Skin has the mechanism to transform potentially dangerous sunlight radiation into desirable metabolic energy, like plants. So, the body fulfills essential nutritional needs by perpetually feeding upon condensed sunlight and moonlight. He adds that the inner light also functions as storage and communication modalities between cells, nerve endings, neural fibers, and DNA molecules, significantly sustaining the very existence of the physical body at the atomic and molecular levels. Human bodies store light, consume light, communicate internally with light, and maintain their basic structures with light while constantly radiating invisible light energy into the cosmos. Furthermore, the eye generates a unique brilliance like the soul radiating from within. The perceived bioluminescence or inner glow is spontaneous and constantly stimulated by ambient light from the environment (The Human Body Emits, Communicates with and Is Made from Light, n.p.).

Physicist, engineer, and inventor Nikola Tesla also perceived that the eyes reveal the very soul with a luminosity seen even in the brightest daylight. It seemed to him that the light of the eyes could expose the hidden thoughts of the mind. In his investigations, Tesla experienced profound exhilaration observing the intricacies and magnificence of the entire natural creation, especially the human body of which the eyes are the perfect handiwork of God ("On Light and Other High-Frequency Phenomena" n.p.).

Educator Robert H. McKim from Stanford University points to the natural tendency of quickly grabbing surface impressions when observing things. He describes the appropriate attitude and efficient practice when "Seeing is treated not as a passive process but as a creative and active art that can be educated" (Experiences in Visual Thinking 39). Although stereotyped visual concepts may be sufficient for immediate surface identification, the best information is in the uniqueness of the details. Longer observations increase the quantity of available knowledge, thus improving the quality of the perception process. The probability of permanently losing information is small. McKim refers to the brain's innate tendency toward seeking patterns in all the bits and pieces of available data, which also contributes to limited seeing. This process occurs when the brain observes an optical illusion, and attempting to fill in missing information generates special visual effects (60).

Al Seckel, cognitive vision scientist and leading authority on optical illusions, notes that modern science's acclaimed pioneers in advanced optics have dismissed optical illusions as an eye design mistake and a failure of the body's vision system. However, the opposite may be true. Seckel writes, "...our perception of the world is not a mirror image of reality, but an active, intelligent construct that allows us the best chances of survival in a complicated environment" (Incredible Visual Illusions 10-11). Seckel states that centuries of human experience and cognitive science research suggest that optical illusions are reliable demonstrations of certain aspects of the mental vision process. He concludes that what the body's vision system perceives as the real three-dimensional world is usually accurate. The science of perception is not clearly understood (23). While some people see only magical tricks, optical illusions have complex explanations, leading researchers to critical scientific discoveries deciphering the mysteries of eyesight and the ambiguities between sensory vision and mental perception (26).

Internet author Tom Wickens writes about innovative computer software developments like the current applications combining metaphysical practice with visually stunning virtual reality environments. With the required Virtual Reality headsets, computer software digitally simulates a meditation session with the potential to generate altered mental states. Wickens provides three examples: (1) Guided Meditation VR system offers numerous high-quality and customizable audio-visual environments that are fully immersive, including a digital assist in monitoring one's breathing; (2) EvolVR (pronounced Envolve VR) is available on the world's largest social network VR platform. It provides the option of individual guided meditation sessions or communal gatherings with other real people online; and (3) Educationally focused Chakra VR application places participants in a three-dimensional circular environment positioned around a pulsating light, which assists in regulating breathing. This app consecutively connects each person to one of the seven Chakra centers while being guided by four digital avatars ("Meditating in Virtual Reality: A Comparison of Applications" n.p.).

Regan M. Gallagher and Naotsugu Tsuchiya report from their research on the ocular mechanism that produces the effect they call Third-Eye Rivalry. The binocular decode literature of the nineteenth century mentions the rivalry effect. However, until now, there have been no descriptive depictions of this fleeting phenomenon and the mechanics involved in its manifestation. By design, the human vision system enables the mass of individual objects to be understood. This ability can "free fuse" the material of two things, causing the confused brain to see three objects in the field of visual space. In the first stage, the Greek mythological cyclopean Eye appears. Then, in the second stage, the appearance of three separate eyes in the reflected facial image occurs, suggesting the "activation" of the Third Eye, as in ancient Eastern mystical traditions ("Third-Eye Rivalry" 2-3).

Elias Engelhardt reports on the decades between the 16th and 17th centuries, noted for the flurry of scientific activity to develop optical devices that extend the capacity of human vision to observe bodily elements hidden from view. During that time, pioneering researchers engaged in animal and human corpse dissection to uncover the various body parts and their functionality and discover which organ contained the eternal soul "Descartes and His Project of a Fantasized Brain" 281). The pineal gland was essential to Descartes's work because he believed that "The gland centralizes most activities through its movements, directing the spirits that it releases to different parts of the brain, as necessary." The soul manipulated the gland, which contained the spirits that coordinated the functioning of the brain and the body's sensory organs (283). Before Descartes, the assumed location of the soul moved, as a whole or in several parts, from the heart of the Egyptians to the Grecian brain, thorax, and stomach. Then, Aristoteles repositioned the soul in the heart organ, but others moved it to the liver. Eventually, the Hellenists theorized that the soul was mortal. So, by the early Middle Ages, the soul was a materialistic structure designed as an integral part unified with the brain's ventricles, the standard concept throughout the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Eventually, Rene Descartes published his idea of mind-body dualism to explain human physiology and relegated the soul's location to the pineal gland (284).

Karim ReFaey, with other researchers from the Mayo Clinic, uncovered a unique example of ancient Egyptian ingenuity. Without evidence of radiographic technology, one of the oldest civilizations encoded their advanced knowledge of human physiology and the body's sensory organ system into a single graphic symbol, the Eye of Horus. The graphic design fits into the mid-sagittal section when superimposed over a cross-section of the human brain. It aligns with significant neural pathways associated with the six sensory faculties (see Appendix A2). Over time, the single eye conceptualization symbolized prosperity and protection, with several name changes, including the Eye of God, the Eye of the Mind, and the Third Eye. Historians have noted that there was more to this iconic Eye than casual observations could reveal. However, before ReFaey, researchers did not fully illuminate the neuroanatomical significance and secrets (see Appendix A3). ReFaey explains, "Artistically, the Eye is comprised of six different parts. Mythologically, each part is an individual symbol. Anatomically, each part corresponds with the center of a particular human sensorium" ("The Eye of Horus: The Connection Between Art, Medicine, and Mythology in Ancient Egypt" n.p.).

Internationally acclaimed psychic Echo Bodine explains the widespread misconceptions about psychics and their apparent super abilities. She also acknowledges the need for honesty and authenticity. Accordingly, without prejudice, she distinguishes between gifted and genuine psychics and fortune tellers, who rely upon extraneous tools to acquire information. Not everyone who claims to be a Psychic has paranormal abilities, but all real psychics possess a sensitivity in at least one of four specialties: clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, and clairgustance. Admittedly, engaging in interpreting extrasensory perceptions can be difficult at times, and extraneous tools may be helpful for clarification. Bodine teaches her psychic students that although they may choose to utilize aides, they only need their God-given gifts. She advises psychics in the field to first identify their talent and then develop their skillset before considering a toolbox of cards, stones, boards, handwriting samples, birth dates, and other methods of divination (The Gift: Understand and Develop Your Psychic Abilities 21-22).

The research of Richard Cassaro focuses on the undeniable fact that the third eye icon is not unique to ancient Asian tradition. In his article, Discovery Of The Third Eye In The Ancient Americas, he exposes this oversight. A substantial amount of physical evidence suggests that an ancient worldwide religious culture unified all inhabitants on Earth. In his Internet article, Cassaro writes of his new findings:

Scholars of Eastern religions recognize the Third Eye as having a long history in India, China, and Asia, where Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism hold sway. We find this Third Eye symbolism among cultures that evolved and flourished in present-day Mexico, Peru, Columbia, Panama, and even the United States (i.e., the Olmec, Toltec, Maya, Zapotec, Aztec, Inca, pre-Inca, and Mississippian cultures, among others). (n.p.).

Cassaro describes the widely accepted belief system developed around the mysterious third eye symbolism. Eastern traditions believe Yogic practice will awaken the dormant Eye once the two anatomical eyes are closed. The thinking is that the human head had three eyes at one time, but over time, the Eye in the middle of the forehead atrophied, receded precisely to the brain's center, and transformed into the current pineal gland. Archaeological and other scientific investigations uncover an identical tradition in the Western Hemisphere but with some cultural variations depicted in the numerous artifacts collected. For instance, there are alternate symbols representing the "urna" or "trinetra," the forehead dot from Hindu, Buddhist, and Taoist traditions, such as circled dots, a third large eye, a three-petal plant (the European fleur-de-lis emblem), an ear of corn or a pinecone motif, a sun symbol, or other chakra symbols (n.p.).

According to educator Douglas Gabriel, "...the heart is the primal, and ultimate, sense organ that is evolving into a supersensible organ able to perceive the invisible and the eternal" ("The Human Heart: A Supersensible Organ of Perception" 188). Remarkably, the dynamic power of the human heart is comparable to the modern magneto-hydrodynamic generators, which mimic the massive magnetic plasma systems surrounding the Earth and the sun. The human body is a bio-electromagnetic machine creating a heart-centered energy field extending fifteen feet around itself. The power from the conjoined brain-heart coupled with the combined power of the lower abdomen Chakras are measurable scientifically. Because of its connection to Divinity, the potential of spiritual empowerment is astronomical. Douglas explains the metaphysical significance, "When activated by consciousness through practices such as yoga, meditation, prayer, or contemplation, these forces evolve to become the spiritual forces of Imagination, Inspiration, and Intuition" (59-60).

The Service-to-Others Zeta Reticuli extraterrestrials harmonize with the fundamental principles of metaphysical philosophy and profess in-depth information about the spirit world ("Key Characteristics" ZetaTalk n.p.). These ancient transplants to Earth communicate through their emissary and spokesperson, Nancy Leider, by a brain implant rather than channeling ("Communications" ZetaTalk n.p.). Consistently posted online, the Zeta insights and predictions cover diverse topics related to the human situation, past, present, and future. For instance, decades ago they noticed how dependable humans can be when it comes to getting inoculations and participating in activities benefiting the temporary body while neglecting the state of the eternal soul ("Spiritual Health" ZetaTalk n.p.). The soul is the indwelling entity that thoroughly infuses the body during incarnations to experience the full extent of sensory sensation ("Eternal Soul" ZetaTalk n.p.). The Zetas explain the importance of meditation in pursuit of higher Consciousness and clarify that although ritualistic practices may seem to produce dramatic results at times, "the ability to communicate with spirits is strictly related to the desire to do so" ("Meditation" ZetaTalk n.p.).

In his unique book, Stalking The Wild Pendulum, the scientist Itzhak Bentov portrays the human physical body as a low vibrating container enclosing a series of consecutively higher vibrating non-physical bodies. This layered mechanism aims to gather and process brain information from all Consciousness levels. He compares this new model to a multi-channel radio simultaneously transmitting, transmitting, and amplifying. The loudest sensory Reality is broadcast on the outermost physical layer, while the most inward spiritual broadcast station is the quieter higher self. In between are the broadcasting stations of the causal body, the mental body, and the astral body. The degree of intrusiveness of the collective noise in one's daily life modulates according to one's sensitivity to the various frequencies conditioned by meditation.

Furthermore, Bentov asserts that the brain functions as a thought amplifier of the information transmitted by non-physical inner bodies. The role of the brain is not to initiate thought but to expand the messages from all the bodies within the physical body and transform them into practical information for human survival and perseverance (113-115). According to Bentov's model of higher Consciousness, humans can develop their innate ability to communicate and interact with neighboring realities. He writes, "Our successful interaction with these other realities depends on the extent to which we have developed our vehicles or bodies, which are matched to respond to the frequency span of each reality" (116).

Scholar of ancient mythologies and Contactee Paul Anthony Wallis recounts his "light bulb moment" when examining Acquired Savant Syndrome case studies. These physically traumatized people suffering some loss of normal brain function also acquire extraordinary mental and creative abilities. The phenomenon occurs from accidental severe neurological trauma to the central nervous system. Medical science hypothesizes that the cause is incidental degeneration of a specific brain area that happens to 'disinhibit dormant potentialities' (Escaping From Eden 145-146). Similarities of apparent superhuman abilities emerged when comparing ancient historical and mythological accounts to modern case reports. Wallis further observed evidence that suggests some restraining mechanism in the brain that inhibits the release of higher cognitive function and the apparent superpowers possessed by mankind's ancient ancestors. There must be a means by which ordinary people can once again become like the superhuman beings celebrated in history, excluding the uncertainty of an intentional self-inflicted blow to the head. Wallis supports his theory with references to the ancient Mesopotamian tablets, the Popol Vuh, and statements from Genesis to the teachings of Jesus and the New Testament Epistles of the Holy Bible. All of these encourage human beings to become something greater than they presently are (147). Wallis writes, "When Jesus said, 'These and even greater things will you do...' I cannot think of a greater invitation than that to explore—and not for the sake of curiosity, but to transform our lives" (149).

Joe Dispenza, a specialist in alternative medicine, recounts the discovery in 1991 that the human heart has brain cells. Profoundly significant, this realization birthed a new body of science called neurocardiology with the original technical term "heart-brain." Communication between the brain in the head and the brain in the chest establishes heart-brain coherence, which produces the emotionally and mentally transcendent Heart-centered State. The resulting sustained elevated state acts as an amplifier that supercharges the brain and all other organ systems. With body-wide cohesiveness, the Heart-centered state generates supernatural experiences in the lives of ordinary people (Becoming Supernatural: How Common People Are Doing the Uncommon 169-170). Dispenza focuses on intentionally choosing to experience elevated mental and emotional states rather than waiting for something better to happen externally. He writes, "We've seen enough of them demonstrate that it is indeed possible to produce positive, measurable, tangible effects in their lives simply by shifting the paradigm of their thoughts and feelings" (172).

Mega-author and spiritual leader Deepak Chopra opened his book by writing, "God has managed the amazing feat of being worshiped and invisible at the same time" (How to Know God: The Soul’s Journey into The Mystery of Mysteries 1). Although God leaves no material breadcrumbs behind in the physical world for seekers to track their path to where he is, anyone can spontaneously find him because God has a presence. In Hebrew, the Presence of God was called Shekhinah, the Presence of "light." As Chopra writes, the great significance of this is "...the notion that if God has a presence, that means he is experienced. He can be known." The various processes by which humankind attempts to personify God are all attempts at shaping God into a familiar form to make God more accessible to us (3-4).

Chopra explains that whenever visible or invisible "light" is mentioned in the Scriptures, it always represents awareness. The Light causes attention because the Light is aware or conscious. In Christianity, Jesus is "the light of the world," the higher Consciousness his followers seek. Additionally, "...the word "light" is a synonym for a whole range of things, from inspiration and holiness to embodied spirit and God's essence." Coming into the Light offers a moment of altered Consciousness (211). Once beyond the mental and habitual dualism, all light one Light. "The observer isn't separate from outer Reality...So inner and outer vision are not separate." Sufism is the mystical division of Islam, and it states that "all light, inner and outer, is but one light" (204).

Author and Contactee Whitley Strieber takes a fresh look at the concept of Jesus as the Godman who proclaimed himself to be the Light of the World. Perhaps Jesus was not bragging about his special interposition between God and mankind but instead focusing on man's overlooked connection to the Light. Strieber writes, "In fact, the entire journey to the idea of God as a single, discrete presence is also a journey toward what must be a form of energy that is somehow conscious and appears in human eyes as living light" (Jesus A New Vision 227). The history of religious beliefs and concepts of God are inseparable from ancient encounters with some form of transformative Light. Consider the example from 1350 years before Jesus identified himself as the Light being; Egyptian Pharoah Akhen-Aten declared the sun to be God, thereby his Divinity by close association. Similarly, ancient Iranian Zoroastrians worshipped the Lord of Light. A fiery light regenerated Moses, commissioning him to liberate the ancient Jews from the Egyptians. Plus, the disciples of Jesus, Peter, James, and John, observed the transfiguration of Jesus into the Light. Later, a heavenly illumination changed the apostate Saul into the Apostle Paul. Perhaps encounters with the seemingly conscious Light played the leading role in such supernatural historical dramas (229-230).

Master Metaphysician and Founder of the International Metaphysical Ministry University System, Paul Leon Masters, identifies third eye perception as the inner Light of the body. In his introduction to Practical Mysticism, Masters describes the ultimate experience in "the Land of the Mystic" when the Presence of God is consciously manifest with "no sense of the physical body—just Oneness with the Inner Light" (Bachelor's Degree Curriculum 1:6). The consequences of Biblical misinterpretation, precisely the essential truth presented by Jesus when he proclaimed, "The Light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of Light" (Holy Bible: King James Version Matthew 6:22). The key that unlocks all the powerful truths veiled in the pictorial language is determining if the Source is literal or figurative. A strictly literal interpretation of the Scriptures diverts attention from the deeper metaphorical understandings from the embedded spiritual insights that are mystically perceived (Master's Degree Curriculum 2:57-58).

  • We begin this discourse by considering the literal model for the figurative third eye. During the era of intense ophthalmic debate, the focus was on the mechanics of how eyes see. Eager to prove their theories about the movement of light into and out of the eyes, researchers did not notice that the act of seeing had become a side effect in the process (Finden n.p.). Likewise, researchers frequently overlook optical illusions, which are amusing and annoying at the same time.

However, more than merely deceiving the eyes, optical illusions reveal how the eyes see. Figure 3 has sentimental value for me because, as a self-taught child artist, it was the first image that opened my mind. When I discovered that a simple image could act in such magical ways, I doodled the skeleton box numerous times in different ways for many years. Now, I think of it as a form of low-tech Virtual Reality. It still amazes me as the perceived front and back sections spontaneously switch back and forth and up and down. It is one of the most superficial optical illusions but energetically one of the strongest, and it subconsciously trained my Mind's Eye to see in different ways.

Seckel observes, "Most of us do not normally notice the difficulties associated with vision because our brain automatically resolves them for us" (7). Another vision expert, McKim, wrote about the diversity of perception and how it is insufficient for the innovative capacity of human imagination. Those involved in the arts and sciences who push the boundaries of technology and creativity continuously seek better ways to extend their visual perception. While acknowledging eyesight limitations, he notes the importance of accurate perception in acquiring advanced knowledge. Incorrect or ambiguous data is gathered while obtaining information with the natural eyes, such as the attempt to identify an optical illusion (78-79). The imbalance that incomplete information creates is evident in the anatomists who searched in vain for the soul or spirit within the cavities of the bodies they dissected (Engelhardt n.p.).

During a time when microscopes and telescopes increasingly augmented eyesight, Nicola Tesla attested to the benefit of optical devices to enhance limited natural vision in his lecture on light. However, he expressed his "thoughts on the eye" as a greater delight in observing the glow perceived when looking into human eyes without an artificial device (n.p.). In addition to confirming that invisible biophoton light emanates from parts of the eyes, Sayer Ji also reported that the same light enables mental imagining to produce "biophysical pictures" by the mind with the eyes closed or open ( n.p.). Thereby, the mind's Eye never closes, and any perceived functionality of the third Eye never needs activation, manipulation, or restoration.

Reported ocular complications attributed to COVID-19 experimental vaccines include eye swelling, eyelid dysfunction, ocular hyperemia, conjunctivitis, blurred vision, and other visual impairments, including rare diseases (Nyankerh 4). Such eye disorders are reminiscent of the third eye adversity reported on YouTube and other Internet social networks (see Appendixes D and E). Once the symbolic third Eye is intentionally given literal components, a physicality like the anatomical eyes, it becomes worthless and not simply dysfunctional. The Zeta reminds humans that the eternal soul, the spirit entity that is the Being within, unlike the physical body and brain, cannot be affected by any affliction. It never diminishes. It never becomes injured ("Eternal Soul" n.p.).

The pattern-seeking brain seems confused about the information the eyes have transferred to it and depends upon the imagination for assistance (McKim 79). For instance, is Figure 4 a large black rectangle with white horizontal and vertical bars, or is it a series of precisely arranged black squares on a white background? Is it a dark box with a spirit-like orange ghost behind the white bars? Or was orange paint sprayed on top of some of the black squares? The primary feature of the original Hermann Grid is those small dark squares appearing and disappearing where the white bars cross one another. It disappears when the observer consciously stares at just one of the small dark squares. In my thinking, the message from all these visual possibilities is the inadequacy of eyesight, the brain, and the mind's Eye to perceive everything that can be experienced at any moment. The possibilities are much greater than the faculties.

In Figure 4, observe the entire matrix without staring at one spot. Then, stare at a single white dot. What or who is turning the lights off and on? If the human brain can do this, and the will of the mind can cause it to stop, consider the probable greater capacity within that is untapped. All psychical experiences beyond insight, hindsight, and foresight could be just as intentional and spontaneous.

These two illusionary effects are like "eyelid lights" during meditation sessions in a darkened room. There is tremendous twinkling and static-like activity when the eyes are closed. Unless one is sightless, total darkness does not exist. McKim writes about Peter McKeller's description of the "luminous dust." McKeller recounts the amazed discovery of Galton, who calls it a "kaleidoscope change of patterns and forms (that) is continually going on" (qtd. in Robert H. McKim Experiences In Visual Thinking 85). In my experience, the luminous dust transforms into animated light forms or assembles into recognizable imagery like photographs or movies.

Specific esteemed experts may consider optical illusions to indicate nature's poor design of the eyes. Seckel writes, "The processes that underlie and mediate 'normal' vision are the same processes that give rise to illusions; to understand illusions is to understand standard visual processing (10). My intuitive feeling is that the eyes were designed with the innate ability to perceive optical illusions to give human beings clues to the soul's perception of invisible realities. The collective research findings suggest that spiritual sight involves all aspects of nonvisual perception with all the physical, mental, and spiritual sensory faculties and capabilities.

Virtual Reality Meditation applications with the requisite VR headset can be a helpful tool as another form of optical illusion. However, VR and Artificial Intelligence can quickly become traps when combined with other sensory-enhancing or sensory-deprivation equipment. Wickens expressed the ease and convenience of the systems as a means of separation from the distractions of one's environment, benefiting those seeking meditative solitude (n.p.). I agree.

However, I believe Virtual Reality can become an addictive 'drug,' with participants dependent upon digital technology for artificially induced pseudo-mystical experiences devoid of genuine spiritual development. Individuals and vast groups of people may become passive robots to Artificial Intelligence as they complacently live within someone else's digitalized Consciousness. Wickens described how VR technology artificially enables the physical eye-brain-mind connection to simulate a meditative state (n.p.). I think dependence upon the third eye syndrome is also a form of Virtual Reality because the ethereal Third Eye does not exist as a material object.

Nyankerh, Finden, Ji, and Engelhardt confirmed the vulnerabilities of the first and second eyes and the nonvisual pineal gland. All physical sense organs are susceptible to affection, deterioration, and disease. The vision capabilities of the eyes are limited, and perception is ambiguous, which necessitates the intervention of the brain to create a vision of Reality based on other available information. Although sufficient for earthbound survival, the anatomical eyes are limited in capacity. McKim further notes that "...what we see is limited by what we know. And when our knowledge is incorrect, we see illusions" (79).

My comprehensive research examined sixteen Bible versions of Matthew 6:22 (see Appendix B1 and B2), focused on the word "single," used in the King James Version. Fifteen Bible versions used a different word, such as "simple" or "healthy." For example, "be single" in Matthew 6:22 of the Jubilee Bible 2000 (Bible Hub) translates as "be sincere." Therefore, the Eye must be "free from pretense or deceit." Note that each Bible version uses different words to express the state of the singularity of the "eye," not the Light. The single Eye is conditioned by the one who intends to max out the fulness of Light. Therefore, the focus is on the Presence of light, not the utility of the Third Eye. So, mystically understood, I believe that Jesus' allusion to the third eye concept is an exaltation to attain the Highest Consciousness, not merely going into the Light but being the Light.

The Third Eye has other symbolic names, including single eye, second sight, egg of immortality, crystal lamp, vision of the mind, and inner eye (Paranormal-Encyclopedia n.p.). The Zetas comments about sacred icons and references the Christian Cross and the Islamic Black Stone. They saw a potential problem when symbols replaced the realities they represented. Rigid superstitions and emotional controls can enslave people, denying their personal beliefs, opinions, feelings, and the freedom to disagree ("Holy Icons" ZetaTalk n.p.).

In addition to the Third Eye, other well-known religious symbols include Judaism's Star of David, the Christian Fish symbol, Hinduism's OM symbol, Buddhism's Wheel', the Yang and Yin of Confucianism, and Taoism. The fundamental truth in all these metaphysical teachings is one truth, as Masters writes, "There is but one mind in the universe. All minds are inseparable from one great mind. All so-called individual minds are individualized expressions of the one great mind" (Master's Degree Curriculum 1:9).

According to Cassaro, "Kundalini Yoga" is mainly structured to help seekers awaken the Third Eye and find the "higher Self" or the "soul within." In the Yoga system, Kundalini is the coiled serpent energy at the base Chakra point, springs upward through all the Chakra points to the top of the head. In ancient Sanskrit, Kundalini represents "illumination or enlightenment one experiences during the discovery of the soul." Physician and Founder of The Kundalini Clinic, Lee Sannella, claims that "Kundalini is the real cause of all so-called spiritual and psychic phenomena." Additionally, she writes that the Kundalini process is "the secret origin of all esoteric and occult doctrines, the master Key to the mystery of creation, the inexhaustible Source of philosophy, art, and science, and the fountainhead of all religious faiths, past, present, and future" (qtd—Ricard Cassaro "Discovery Of The Third Eye In The Ancient Americas" (n.p.).

The Zetas confirm the Presence of a Chakra system in the human body. However, they explain that the biophysical connection of the incarnated soul determines the Chakra locations and its coordinated functions, not the anatomical regions of the physical body. For example, the soul's focus on the mind as the general link to all the parts of the body causes it to be more active in the brain region, giving rise to the idea of a third eye ("Chakras" ZetaTalk n.p.).

The Third Eye is still very mysterious, especially in the Western hemisphere. However, plenty of archaeological evidence of third-eye symbolism is scattered across the ancient cultures of the Americas, as Figure 6 illustrates. Cassaro asks, "Was the Third Eye a "Universal Religion" shared by all New World cultures? Although occult tradition speaks to a third-eye faculty that all human beings possess, genuine mystics and psychics display mysterious abilities associated with third-eye empowerment. To a lesser degree, any ability of ordinary people, considered beyond the brain's capacity, is commonly attributed to the Third Eye (n.p.). If the Third Eye is the key to all things spiritual and global, as "a kind of lost Universal Religion," then the ancient conceptualization extended well beyond the domain of vision and perception because of diverse symbology, especially in the Western Hemisphere.

  • Interestingly, Dispenza uses similar descriptive words for heart-brain coherence, such as "opening," to reference the activities of the pineal gland and the Third Eye (170). I agree that a healthy pineal gland is undoubtedly beneficial to the general well-being of the human body. However, I believe pursuing higher Consciousness simply through a hidden dormant eye, or pineal 'eye,' is like walking along a footpath on Earth to reach the stars. The symbol for an idea does not have the same literal meaning as the thing it represents. Therefore, the third eye icon does not represent a functioning eye but rather the process by which all the layers of Consciousness collectively inform the mind within the body.

When the heart-centered state elevates, amplification extends throughout the body to every organ (Dispenza 159). Rather than thinking for the entire body, the brain outsources its thoughts to the numerous sensory perception points throughout the various layers of Consciousness into other-dimensional spaces, as the "universal mind" that Bentov writes about, perception of different dimensions of Reality (157).

The fact that psychic skills can be developed and have correlations to the body's sensory faculties, as Bodine indicated (28), makes it clear that they are part of an extraordinary endowment hidden and suppressed within all human beings, as Wallis suggests (144). Masters informs that ordinary people who regularly practice deep meditation should expect the same psychic experiences as those who claim to have the "psychic gifts" that Bodine writes about (Master's Degree Curriculum 1:39).

The ancient Eye of Horus is a masterpiece of symbolic visual art. As an artwork, it is its hypothesis (McFaey n.p.). The Egyptian Eye of Horus, the Hindu's third Eye of Shiva, the third Eye of the Buddha, and Jesus' single Eye all point to the same thesis of mystical Reality, pointing to spiritual sight and the Light of Higher Consciousness. All sensory faculties collectively represent connection and contact with the spirit realm. McKim writes, "Nature does not separate seeing from the other senses; only words do" (61). He further explains that when the physical vision system is overwhelmed or insufficient, the body's design assists the brain by relegating perception to other nonvisual sensory components, as the human body possesses a "polysensory diversity of perception" (62). Understanding the third eye concept moves the Reality of mystical vision beyond eye symbolism to embrace each faculty of perception.

The Third Eye Rivalry can spontaneously appear when observing the face reasonably close to a mirror. The effect initiates by staring at the pupil of one eye until cross-eyed vision occurs, and the appearance of one eye becomes three eyes (see Figure 7). During Gallagher's research, there was a persistent debate in the scientific literature questioning the occurrence of rivalry within an ecological situation. He responded with the words of the Persian poet Shams Tabrizi, 'Find yourself a mirror' (qtd. in Regan M. Gallagher Third Eye Rivalry 6).

It is highly probable that primitive humans, at some point, observed a third eye in the middle of their face reflected in a still body of water. Like other optical illusions and virtual realities, a mirror reflection simulating an illusionary third eye "activation" invokes ancient mysticism without any apparent spiritual benefit. I believe Third Eye Rivalry is another missed opportunity to realize a simple yet profound truth regarding all nonvisual modes of perception available to most people. Just as the ancient Egyptian designers encoded all six senses in their graphic image of the Third Eye, there are Biblical references to the senses and sensory experiences. References include, "...now that you have tasted that the Lord is good;" and "If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?" (Holy Bible: King James Version 1 Peter 2:3, and Corinthians 12:17, respectively).

I combine the general ideas of Bentov (Stalking the Wild Pendulum) and Dispenza (Becoming Supernatural) and envision the body's sensory faculties as channels of information from the most distant external location to the most internal recesses within all the layers of Consciousness within the body.

The heart-brain union as the heart-centered state enhances that data as received impulses, transforming it into practical information and amplifying it into every aspect of the human being, which is used for survival and thriving during its existence. To explore how extensive and expansive the third eye paradigm is, we venture beyond the limitations of symbolism and any lingering restraints of cultural or religious beliefs.

Without light, the brain gathers information through the other sensory faculties of the body and its connection to the soul. The Divine Singularity of Light includes all perceptions, all levels of Consciousness by all entities, throughout all time, places, in all dimensions and densities, in all universes, and all other illusions (optical or otherwise) of Reality. Matt Williams defines the concept of a singularity as "a point in which all physical laws are indistinguishable from one another, where space and time are no longer interrelated realities, but merge indistinguishably and cease to have any independent meaning" ("What Is A Singularity?" n.p.).

Dispenza presented his paradigm-shifting application of positive thought and heightened feeling in a continuous self-reinforcing loop between heart and mind as "an entirely new state of being—the consciousness of the unlimited mind and the energy of profound love and gratitude." By intentionally altering one's energy and producing an emotional charge that stimulates the autonomic nervous system, anyone can change one's destiny. The experimental practice has raised tangible consequences in personal environments, families, and communities, extending vibrationally throughout the physical world (172). Ji reports that researchers measured regions of the body, mainly the forehead and the palm, emitting higher levels of biophoton light in cadence with the time of day and the circadian rhythm. In addition, the biophoton light reduces in response to consistent meditation practice, suggesting that the mental 'eye' also responds to and emits invisible yet detectable light. This fact supports intentionally using energy to affect change in one's life, as Dispenza teaches his students. Ji writes, "The emission of light particles (biophotons) seems to be the mechanism through which an intention produces its effects..." (n.p.).

All Biblical teachings imply that human beings are inherently insufficient. They must become higher than they are currently and perform at a level like Jesus and beyond since life expectancy is longer. Strieber and Wallis address the issue of ordinary people becoming a higher form of their current selves. Strieber envisions Jesus as "a man made of light," suggesting that the more important message about the Light is that all humanity is the same Light. Therefore, the Light that is Jesus is more about the hidden potentialities dormant within human beings than the glorification of yet another godman (231-232).

Wallis posits that if humans are what Jesus was, humans can do what he did. Nevertheless, how can this be accomplished without dormant cognitive abilities or latent supernatural powers? He concludes, "I cannot think of a greater invitation than that to explore – and not for the sake of curiosity but to transform our lives" (149).

In addition to the single eye concept taught by Jesus (Holy Bible: KJV Matthew 6:22), John uses the concept of singularity when he wrote, "He that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches" (KJV Revelation 3:22). One of the two natural ears, like one of the two natural eyes, which generally function together are separated from their biological process to serve as a symbol of an expanded understanding. Usually overlooked is the proximity of the ears, nose, and mouth (tongue), associated with hearing, smell, and taste, which are encoded to the ancient Egyptian Third Eye symbol (ReFaey n.p.) and represented by distinctly amplified psychic abilities (Bodine 28). Likewise, the location of the heart chakra strategically situated in the center of the human physique creates the invisible epicenter of spiritual activity (Dispenza 159) and the supersensible heart with its own intelligence and force field (Gabriel 60).

Bodine, Dispenza, Chopra, Strieber, and Wallis collectively address the mystical aspects of ordinary people's development of extraordinary living. Their information includes elements of the higher self and elevated living, such as discovering and developing psychic gifts, becoming supernatural, awareness of heightened capacities, and serving others.

This way, everyday and natural life becomes extraordinary, extrasensory, and magical. Suppose one is so inclined, regularly engaged with embodied souls, disembodied spirits, higher dimensional entities such as the Zeta, and other extraterrestrial beings. Bodine concludes that "the possibilities are endless" and goes on to say, "You will be able to see aliens if you want and be aware of other solar systems" (137). Chopra asserts that there are no fundamental differences between the so-called ordinary people and those who are "better quantum navigators" (12).

Contact with spirit entities, including visitations from other galactic citizens like the Zeta, is likened by them to "...an experienced contactee who has sorted out the alternate realities finds their life no more confusing than a shopper discovering clothing on the racks from different countries and in different styles. After a while, it all seems quite normal ("Alternate Realities" ZetaTalk n.p.). My experience confirms that humans control all contact situations involving disembodied spirits, extraterrestrials, and other entities, which is comforting and eliminates unnecessary fear ("Just Say No" n.p.).

Dispenza uses similar descriptive words to describe heart-brain cohesiveness often used by other writers to describe the pineal gland and third eye association, as he directs attention to the body's second brain, the heart. Just as the pineal gland has specific structures within the eye, the heart organ contains brain cells. Scientists, medical technicians, and researchers have documented miraculous and measurable results attributed to the cascading effect of the Heart-centered State. In this regard, Dispenza declared, "It doesn't require moving mountains—only changing our state of being" (173).

Similarly, the head and heart spiritual centers are joined cohesively through meditation. In my thinking, the effective utilization of the Mind's Eye cannot be separated from its connection to the Heart's Eye. Once again, the evidence supports that the ancient third-eye paradigm consists of much more than spiritual vision.

Chopra's idea about the quest to find the invisible yet accessible God who did not leave any footprints to follow him is that no fingerprints remain to identify him and no image to recognize him. Nevertheless, those who have experienced the Presence of God claim to have found him, touched by him, and have seen him (3). He explains that whenever visible or invisible "light" is mentioned in scriptures, it always represents awareness. The Light causes attention because the Light is aware or conscious. There is One Light and one sight. Chopra and Strieber point to Jesus, the world's light, as an example of attainable extraordinary living. Strieber also suggests that light is intelligent, and higher consciousness and communication are present, along with the light associated with supernatural events in the Holy Bible (233).

Masters defines enlightenment as an experience already provided in the freely accessible relationship with God. It is the unattainable pot of Gold at the end of an elusive rainbow to those who struggle to obtain it. Masters explains that enlightenment is not a personal life achievement but the gift of all gifts, the Presence of Ultimate Beingness. Living Light in the living Light; Ultimate Beingness in the Presence that is Ultimate Beingness. Affirms that all that is of any value is in the gift of all gifts (150). To be enlightened is the greatest of all gifts, the "intimacy of consciousness with the Supreme," fulfilling every conceivable need and desire as the very embodiment of the Oneness of Love (Mystical Insights: Knowing the Unknown (149-151). Furthermore, "Total activation is said to bring FULL MENTAL ENLIGHTENMENT to the one having the experience..." (Masters, Master's Degree Curriculum 1:28). He emphatically states, "Practical Mysticism is based on the ABSOLUTE POWER AVAILABLE TO ALL HUMAN BEINGS" (Bachelor's Degree Curriculum 1:3).

If ancient intervention has inhibited the supernatural potentiality of humanity, I believe the solution is uncovered through practical mysticism and mystical meditation.

  • The Thesis Introduction highlighted my experience with extrasensory vision, telepathy, and contact with a spirit entity I perceived as a benevolent extraterrestrial. Over a decade ago, that encounter formed the experiential foundation for my thesis, as my concept of ordinary spiritual life changed in 31 seconds. The findings of my informal YouTube experiment also offer a look at a real-world situation involving millions of people entangled in the World Wide Web of misconception and misinformation about the Third Eye.

The Literature Review and Discussion addressed aspects of the polysensory nature of human perception. Each Source presented evidence expanding and extending the understanding of spirituality beyond the limited third-eye syndrome. The implications and consequences of new knowledge gathered during my search and research will influence the remainder of my life experience, which is devoted to metaphysics and practical mysticism.

It was beneficial to consider the anatomical eye system, which serves as the dominant portal for the brain to the external world besides being the literal model for the figurative Eye. Human beings are also well equipped for interactions with the invisible realities of multiple planes of Consciousness and dimensional excursions into the heavenly realm, with polysensory perception and extrasensory sensitivity.

This thesis considers the essence of the ancient third eye paradigm to be about Light rather than spiritual sight. The Omni-eye expands the ancient symbolism to encompass contemporary metaphysical philosophy, neo-consciousness, and new knowledge supportive of the foundational metaphysical principles.

Rivalry also expands our understanding and beckons our attention. Something else is revealed in the mirror that the research team did not notice or at least did not mention. The neo-conceptualization of the second-sighted Third Eye expanded symbolism, including the extrasensory perception of smell, taste, touch, and hearing.

I invite other creatives to consider expanding the conversation about these other possible conceptualizations, as in Figure 8. Another area for academic writing consideration concerns the challenge to genuine metaphysical experience developing now with Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence simulating psychic abilities and mystical practices. May your Eye and Ear be single, and may you be filled with the Living Light.

  • The World Wide Web comprises more than a billion Internet websites. This experiment uses the top two most active sites, the Google search engine and Google's YouTube video-sharing social media platform, to investigate the quality of information about the third Eye that is made available to people around the world. According to statistics, each day, millions of humans collectively spend one billion hours searching for information and entertainment on YouTube alone (see Addendum C).

For the first experiment in 2020, an Android cell phone with Internet access searched for the words "third eye." The YouTube search engine's data collection process yielded hundreds of video channel results. The experiment examined the first fifty websites and documented the results with handwritten notes.

In 2021, the second YouTube inquiry used a computer and processed the first five hundred YouTube channel search results. The thesis considers the first fifty channels in this study. Both experiments focused on the channel titles associated with each published website presentation. The title page information of each webpage directly affects the final search results from the data collected by YouTube's automatic algorithm system. Search results present the relevant title pages toward the top of the list. Figure 2 was the first channel, with 2.6 million views.

    Appendix E

Each YouTube publisher provides a unique channel, a thumbnail page (above), which functions like a billboard advertisement, presenting descriptive search information about the video content. Both searches reveal similarities in promotional design and a narrow topical focus, forming a trend throughout the YouTube platform. Statistical analysis suggests a status quo with only minor deviations, reflecting popular unsubstantiated notions. The investigation utilized typical marketing techniques to maximize viewer response and generate higher search engine ratings. However, viewer response statistics reveal what information people are consistently searching for, and viewer ratings suggest the level of satisfaction with the information published.

The results of the first YouTube experiment indicate that about 90 percent of the first fifty channels in the study present a third eye requiring various forms of human intervention for activation or restoration:

11 channel titles did not suggest that the third Eye required intervention.

39 channels express the need for some form of third-eye manipulation.

8 also associated the third Eye with the pineal gland.

1 channel referred to accidentally opening the Third Eye.

1 channel instructs to "crack open" the Third Eye.

7 issued warnings against accessing the Third Eye.

Of the first fifty channels in the second study, forty-eight website titles stated that the third Eye required human intervention for activation or restoration:

2 channel titles did not suggest that the third Eye required intervention.

39 channels expressed the need for some form of third eye manipulation.

15 also associated the third Eye with the pineal gland.

1 channel referred to the need for pineal gland decalcification.

6 channels offered warnings against seeking a third-eye experience.

1 referred to accidentally opening the Third Eye.

1 specified where to press to turn on the Third Eye.

9 channels were marketing "Third Eye" products not related to spirituality.

The fifty YouTube channels examined reached over forty-eight million people. These statistics suggest the extent to which Internet "Influencers" are shaping public perception of the symbolic Third Eye, which has acquired literal anatomical components and functionality. These two experiments expose the myth of Third Eye vulnerability promoted online through YouTube and other social media platforms. To ascribe literal dysfunction to a spiritual conceptualization is irrational.
